Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) - ISO Standards
Date : 20 to 21 March, 2023
Time : 1340 Hrs to 1700 Hrs ( Online Mode )

INTRODUCTION

GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning &Tolerancing) or GPS (Geometrical Product Specification) is a common terminology to describe the design intent of parts starting from design upto manufacturing and beyond. GPS comprises a well-defined symbolic language that can help optimally control and communicate variations in manufacturing, allowable variations within the product assembly and standardizes how the variation is measured. Following GPS carefully is crucial to ensure all the parts / components in an assembly work together guaranteeing optimal functionality.

Keeping this in view, IMTMA is organizing a training programme on "Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing – ISO standard".

FOCUS AREAS

KEY TAKE AWAYS
  • Introduction to GPS philosophy
  • GPS terms and definitions , Principles, Symbols and Rules
  • Basics of Geometrical Tolerancing, tolerance indicator
  • Form Tolerances-  Specification, Application, Inspection
  • Datums - Degrees of Freedom, Datum Reference Frame, Datum targets, Maximum Material Requirement (MMR), Least Material Requirement (LMR)
  • Orientation Tolerances-Specification, Application, Inspection
  • Position, Concentricity, Symmetry, Runout- Radial and Total- Specification, Application and  Inspection
  • Line Profile, Surface Profile--Specification, Application and Inspection
  • Exercises

After undergoing the GD&T workshop, the participants would be able to:

  • Understand the concepts of GPS features and correctly interpret GPS symbols in Engineering Drawings
  • Learn about using Geometric tolerances at MMR and LMR conditions and Calculate Bonus tolerance
  • Learn Interpretation of GPS Parameters
  • Learn GPS through Exercises
  • Gain an insight into inspection of GPS features using conventional methods
