INTRODUCTION
 

The modern machines have a variety of control features in order to facilitate greater accuracy, safety and productivity among all control features; in them the speed control plays a major role. To fulfil this need VFDs are used. A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) is a type of motor controller that drives an electric motor by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to the electric motor. These days almost all industry sectors are using VFDs as a speed controlling device of Induction motors and there by the connected process. 

To disseminate knowledge of VFD, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is organizing an online programme on "VFD and its Industry applications".

Mr. Anil Purohit is an Electrical engineer with more than 40 years Industrial Experience in field of Servo control, Machine Control Systems, Automation Products & Solutions, Machines & Test Rigs building, Intelligent and High Speed Motion Controls with Servo, PLC / VFD Technologies for Aurtomation, Machine / Test Rigs Building, Mechatronics / Machine Kinematics.  Presently he is Founder Director of Leonardo Automation India P Ltd , and presently working as Technology Trainer and Technical Consultant .
