Online Training on Design and Processing Techniques for Plastic Parts
Date : 22 to 23 October, 2020
Time :1400 Hrs to 1700 Hrs

Plastic parts are found in a wide range of products such as Automobiles, Electronics, Consumer goods, Aerospace and many other products.

Plastic parts can be manufactured in extremely high volumes depending on their usage and there are different types of processing techniques to meet such requirements. Hence a plastic part designer has to keep in mind operational and manufacturing considerations while designing plastic parts. Knowledge of different material formulations alongwith efficient processing techniques helps designers to design plastic parts to meet functional and aesthetic requirements.

Keeping this in view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is organizing a 2 days online programme on Strategies for Design and Processing of Plastic Parts.

  • Introduction to Plastic Materials, Properties and Applications
  • Injection Moulding Process, Machine and Mould Construction
  • Plastics - Manufacturing Processes
  • Design of part features such as wall thickness, radii, ribs, boss, snaps, threads, draft, parting line, holes and undercuts
  • Design with respect to manufacturing such as part integration, gate location, shrinkage, mismatch, ease of manufacturing, stiffness and tolerance
  • Finishing of Plastic Parts
  • Assembly Techniques of Plastic Parts
  • Defects and Remedies
  • Planning counter Measures
  • Have an overview of  different Plastic Materials, Properties and Applications
  • Understand design considerations of plastic product features
  • Go through common defects encountered in plastics processing  and remedies
