Building Lean Culture through Value Stream Mapping (VSM)

INTRODUCTION

Lean Tools help to excel the growth of a company. Proficiency in practicing lean tools enables effective implementation of lean approach. Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is an important tool for lean transformation.

VSM monitors & controls the Value Added & Non Value Added activities and helps in productivity improvement. It provides graphical view of the entire operation in the industry, right from procurement to dispatch. It helps visualizing the scope for making improvements.

Keeping this in view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is organising a 2 day programme on Building Lean Culture through Value Stream Mapping (VSM) on 6 and 7 February 2020 at Pune. 


  • Basic Lean Concepts
  • Drawing the current state map- indicating cycle time, Lead time, Manpower of an operation
  • Drawing the future state map- showing Kan-Ban, Kaizen Bursts, Supermarket
  • Adding the resources and describing NVA
  • Implementation
  • Case studies
  • Comprehension test and discussions*

*Participants can bring their real life problems and the relevant data during the workshop. The discussions will be held on this during the 2nd half of the workshop.

Upon completion of this course the participant will be able to:

  • Prepare a Graphical outline map of production place, which will help in- Planning, scheduling, implementing kaizen and effective discussion during meetings.
  • Understand the different aspects and possible varieties of VSM
  • Role-play the strategies and counter the barriers.
  • Review the hidden potential into the self and propagate the ideas and concepts.

Managerial Personnel in Private / Public Sector, Organizations, and various departments of State and Central Government. The Production associates, Supervisors, Managers (and above ranked) personnel. Essentially the personnel in Production, Design, Quality Control  and Service departments.

This programme will be addressed by Mr. Dhananjay Apte, Six Sigma Master Black Belt, 26 years in Quality, Process, Production optimisation. A Trainer & Implementer.
