Quick changeover techniques in Manufacturing through SMED principles

Quick changeover techniques in Manufacturing through SMED principles

Date : 9 to 10 March, 2023   Time : 1340 Hrs to 1700 Hrs   Location / Mode : Online

INTRODUCTION

In this time of uncertainty only agile companies will survive. Agility in terms of shortest delivery time with minimum inventory is the name of the game. The concept of Minimum Order Quantity or MOQ has fallen by the wayside. Customers decide when they want and in what quantities and are unwilling to pay more for this service. Hence the focus on quick changeover or set-up change is like never before. The manufacturers must have the ability to produce smaller batch quantities and deliver them more quickly. They must be able to utilize equipment for as many different parts as possible.

Keeping this in view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is organizing a training program on Quick changeover techniques through SMED principles.

  • Concepts of set-up/ changeover time and benefits
  • Set-up change and inventory turns
  • Review of waste in processes
  • Relation between change over and waste
  • Systematic approach to idle time reduction Implementing set-up changeover techniques

  • Relationship between setup time reduction & profitability
  • Set up time reduction and waste
  • Step by step approach to set up time reduction
  • Set up time reduction at the heart of JIT
  • Several practical ideas and examples for quick set-up change

This programme will be conducted by Mr. Gautam Doshi & Mr. Avinash Khare.
